What’s new with Power BI in Pereview

What's new with Power BI in Pereview?

Pereview has rolled out an improved ad hoc reporting model in Power BI, purpose-built to give asset and portfolio managers direct control over their data. Instead of waiting on IT or Support, users can now explore, visualize, and analyze the portfolio and individual assets on the fly.

Highlights of the release include:

  • Pre-built reports for financials, occupancy, and loan schedules live in every client workspace
  • Support for custom fields, roles, and hierarchies, so your unique data flows directly into reports
  • Simplified design that reduces duplication, errors, and misaligned data joins

As Jeff Wilson, Pereview’s Founder and CEO, noted in a recent training session, “Our goal is simple: give clients the power to answer their own questions on the fly. This release is one of the most impactful upgrades we’ve delivered.”

How clients are using it

Early adopters are already putting Power BI in Pereview to work:

  • Building diversification charts by property type or region in seconds
  • Comparing budgets vs. actuals at the fund or asset level
  • Copying and customizing pre-built income statements, balance sheets, and occupancy, tenancy, and financing reports

Tony Birrittieri, Pereview’s Chief Data Architect, emphasized that Power BI’s embedded model is designed for non-technical users: “It puts the power of information in the hands of the people who really want to consume it, not just report developers.”

Common client questions

Since launch, we’ve fielded a number of recurring questions about Power BI in Pereview:

  • Can I use my custom fields and roles?
Yes, your custom data appears alongside standard Pereview fields.
  • Will my existing ad hoc reports break?
No, your legacy models remain intact. The new model simply adds more options.
  • Can I create custom calculations?
Yes, although these can only be created on individual reports as visual calculations.
  • What’s next on the roadmap?
Unit-level rent roll analysis, trailing-period filters, and weekly time dimensions are among the top enhancements in development.

Looking ahead

This is just the beginning. Pereview’s Power BI integration will continue to evolve, guided by client feedback. Whether it’s more granular rent roll reporting, trailing-period comparisons, or expanded ownership analytics, our focus is on delivering tools that enable asset managers to make faster, sharper, and more confident decisions.

If you’re a Pereview client, log in to your workspace today to explore the new model. And if you’re not yet on Pereview, now’s the time to see how we’re transforming reporting from a static process into a dynamic advantage.
